PIAA Volleyball rules apply with the following exceptions:
Scoring will be based on number of touches to encourage 3 touches
1 point awarded for an Ace
1 point awarded for point earned on one touch
2 points awarded for point earned on two touches
3 points awarded for point earned on three touches
Each match will consist of 3 sets up to 25. All three sets will be played. Team that wins 2 of 3 sets will be declared winner of match.
Standings will be kept in 7th/8th Grade Division only and will be based on number of Matches won (not sets).
Foot faults will be called for all divisions. 5th and 6th grade divisions will have a clearly marked courtesy serve line marked (approximately 4-6 feet inside of the court). A warning will be issued for 5th and 6th grade (one per team per match) before calling.
Underhand serving will be allowed in all divisions. However, to encourage overhand serving and player development, if a player earns points on 3 consecutive underhand serves then the 4th serve must be overhand.
Substitution rules apply. However, subs will not be tracked and it will be left to the discretion of the official if illegal substitutions are made.
A single elimination playoff tournament will decide the season champion. The 5th and 6th grade divisions will use a random draw for seeding in tournament. The 7th/8th division seeding will be based on regular season standings. Tie-breaker will be head-to-head.
Each team will have one time-out available per set.
8 minute total Warm-up time between matches:
2 minutes of shared court time
3 minutes of full court time for each team (including serving)
The 2 minute shared court time clock will begin once the previous teams leave the bench area (i.e., have teams ready to go right away)
